Every pet requires and deserves appropriate medical care.  Many seniors struggle to afford veterinary care for their pets.  There are lower cost veterinary options available for your pet.  In Central Ohio, there are a number of lower-cost options, especially for general care (vaccines, spay/neuter)

Free Spay/Neuter for residents of Franklin County that Qualify
Franklin County Dog Shelter offers FREE spay/neuter to dogs owned by Franklin Co Residents who meet the following guidelines:
-show proof of participation in any of the following public assistance programs: Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Food Stamps (SNAP), Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants/Children (WIC), Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), Retired Veteran or Active Military, Section 8 Housing, Energy Assistance Program, Ohio Works First, Medicaid. Or, residents of Franklin County whose household income is not greater than 150% of the federal poverty guideline
Humane Society of Delaware County
The Humane Society of Delaware County offers a low-cost Spay & Neuter/Dental Clinic to battle pet overpopulation. They also offer many economical services and products (at the time of surgery) to keep your pet healthy. Residents from any county are welcomed!

Aside from providing low-cost Columbus spay and neutering procedures for dogs and cats; they also offer a number of key preventative pet care services: veterinary umbilical hernia repair, ear cleaning, declaw surgeries, vaccinations, deworming, preventative care, heartworm testing and heartworm prevention, flea and tick prevention and microchipping for pet identification. We also do Columbus pet dental procedures on a limited basis.

Offering canine and feline vaccinations, baseline, pre-surgical and wellness bloodwork, heartworm testing, and feline combo testing, heartworm preventions, flea and tick preventions. They also offer sick exams that are more focused and are for minor health issues such as eye, ear, or skin issues.

Additionally Hospets partners with some of the listed Veterinary organizations and offers free pet vaccines throughout the year, reduced cost spay neuters and may assist low income seniors in our service area with additional veterinary costs.

  • Hospets assists low-income pet owners aged 60+.  We assist with house pets with the goal of keeping the pet IN the home as long as possible. For long-term assistance, pets are required to be spayed/neutered.  We can assist with that.
